Infinity - Music for the Soul
Our sense of and attraction to music shows that it lies in the very depths of our being. In the East, music has long been used to alter states of consciousness and heighten levels of spiritual awareness, in recognition of the fact that music connects us to our innermost being, and in so doing, also connects us to the larger Truth. Indian classical music encapsulates and defines the subtle physical and mental changes that affect us in our daily lives. The different ragas of music thus emote the various times in our twenty-four hours day. The Indian classical Raga system is very flexible in the sense that although each Raga has a particular sense, the artist has the freedom to improvise according to his interpretation of the raag so each artist would play each particular raga differently. In this respect, the teachings and background play a major part in the interpretation and playing of the raags. Indian music has been passed on from Guru to his Shishya (student) over many centuries and is thus Infinite. In this album, we present some raag-based compositions by the leading performers of their generation.
