Zen – Rahul Sharma: This album uses the fluid nature of reality to weave sounds that are not bound by the strict rigours of Indian classical music. In Zen, Rahul Sharma’s aim is to create a meditative mood that is not restricted by the boundaries of a traditional Indian classical Raga. The sounds themselves are easy-flowing melodies merging, for instance, the classical Santoor with that of electronic instruments, allowing a full array of sounds to engulf the meditative listener.

ZEN – THE MUSIC (As interpreted by Rahul Sharma)

Music is not a theology. Nor is it a philosophy. It is, in fact, the anti-thesis of philosophy in that it teaches us that the existence of the human mind is peripheral, existing only on the circumference. As soon as you move towards the centre (i.e. the centre of your being), the mind disappears. This "disappearance" of the mind signifies the opening of the inner world. This inner journey is one that consists of many stages, and each stage is symbolised through this music. Rahul Sharma has chosen the track titles in accordance with the specific stages of meditation practised in Zen.
