Devjyoti Bose is one of India's outstanding young sarod players. His playing demonstrates a high level of creative energy, with the potential of both upholding the essences of the musical tradition he belongs to, as well as carrying this tradition forward through innovation. He is the younger brother of one of India's great tabla players, Kumar Bose, and the disciple of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, whose family represents seven generations of sarod players.

Devjyoti Bose has chosen a popular raag for his performance: Raag Malkauns, one of the six primary raags according to ancient musical texts. It is a late night melody consisting of just five notes: deep, peaceful and sublime in character.
